[Manabu descends those stairs with a near-equal measure of determination and dismay in his heart: dismayed at how pathetic it is he must go this slow to avoid keeling over, but determined to see it through. he can only get better if he tries, after all...
and it's not like he'd immediately crush his skull falling: Grey is right there. and is kind enough to not tease or heckle him about it, either! it's heartening, albeit a touch emasculating. but then again, he can't really say much about that since they crossed such a huge threshold already.
weird how he's made such huge strides in some ways and these infuriatingly short ones in others.
at the last step, Manabu straightens up, looking queasy but vindicated; were his tail out, it'd be wagging.] Told you I could do it. But don't give me any credit for it yet! Not until I can do that without being completely pathetic.
